Cabinet Committee on Accommodation

Introduction

The Cabinet Committee on Accommodation (CCA) is one of the important Cabinet Committees of the Government of India that deals with matters relating to government accommodation, office space allocation, and related administrative infrastructure. It plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient utilization of government property and facilities.

Composition

  • The Cabinet Committee on Accommodation is headed by the Union Home Minister.

Key Functions

(i) to determine the guidelines or rules and terms and conditions to govern out-of-turn allotment of Government accommodation; 

(ii) to decide upon the allotment of Government accommodation to various categories of non-eligible persons and organisations and the rate of rent to be charged from them; 

(iii) to consider the question of allotment of accommodation from the General Pool to the Members of Parliament; 

(iv) to consider proposals regarding shifting of existing Central Government Offices to places outside Delhi and the location of new offices in Delhi; and 

(v) to consider and decide upon the proposals relating to- 

  1. revision of scales of accommodation to various categories of persons; 
  2. revision of licence fee for various types of Government accommodation; and
  3. other matters like allotment of accommodation to the various categories of Central Government servants from the ‘Central Pool’ or ‘Special Pool’.

Note: The minutes of the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation will be submitted to the Prime Minister for his information before they are issued.
